Who is Luka Lesson?
Luka Lesson, Australia's stylish and noted hip hop poet, has stirred audiences on five continents.
Born to Greek parents and raised in Brisbane, Luka's skilled verse blends rhythmic riffs on love and justice, laughter and family, music and prose. Luka's range and his smoldering performances prompted invitations to many of the world's iconic venues -- the Nuyorican Poets' Cafe in New York City, Trinity College's International Hip-hop Festival, and Melbourne's avant garde Malthouse Theatre.
In the last two years Luka's gathered his ideas and his verses in new platforms.
ON MAY 1, he released his second album, EXIT, which constructs a new path for socially conscious hip-hop and poetry, something not yet heard in Australian music.
His first book, The Future Ancients -- a collection of rap and spoken word verses -- was self-published in 2013 and is a best seller for poetry in Australia.
What is his dream?
Australian Poetry Slam Champion and conscious hip-hop artist Luka Lesson has a dream: to get Exit, his ambitious second album, into the hands of 20 MILLION people worldwide without charge.
How? With the help of his fan base. Over the past few months Lesson amassed a street team of over 200 fans worldwide who are poised to distribute his music in their cities on 6 continents.
But he also needs your help to share his album with as many people as possible!!
What to expect from the Album?
Poetic and emphatic, Luka Lesson's new album: EXIT, proves that rap and poetry go hand in hand in his world of incredible lyricism, cutting honesty and vulnerable prose.
Cloaked in colour, Lesson's dynamic presence as a lyricist is surrounded by a spectrum of sound: blood reds in the strings, smokey greens in the layers of powerful synths, kisses of gold at it's soaring heights and purple in the stand out drum-lines of the entire production.
The album is purpose-full and strident. Lyrical and undulating. Straight journeys do not make for good travellers, Luka knows this, and although EXIT is the story of one poet's reflection of the world around him, it is also a great leap forward further into the unknown for spoken word, rap and socially conscious hip-hop worldwide.
