Conelius Jones, born (Sibusiso Simelane) is a Spoken Word artist based in the city of gold, Johannesburg, South Africa. His enthralling poetry moves the soul outside of its comfort zone. He articulates well, his imagery is reflective and his words have solid substance. Together, all of this results in a type of energy that is mind blowing the moment he opens his mouth.
He only started writing poetry in 2006, inspired by how language can be composed in such a way that is logical, inspiring, relevant, and may be communicated intellectually to the people. Before writing poetry, He use to rap, and although he no longer does so, one can pick up that there is a solid Hip Hop background in his spoken word craft. It is in his rhythmic flow, the use of diction, carefully selected puns and ambiguities that make listening to this young man a head-nodding “hell yeah!” experience.
In his poetry, he addresses a variety of situations, such as social and political issues, love and relationships, he also writes about spirituality and internal conflicts, inspired by the ghetto, his peers, family, dreams and society as a whole.
